I was gonna try it once, can't remember why I didn't.
Probably my crappy computer can't handle it.

It's always been on "my-list-of-games-to-play-when-I-get-a-better-PC" but the better PC is a long way off at the moment.

You're playing Final Fantasy 8? I hope you like it better than I did... Squall is beyond a doubt THE luckiest guy on the face of the Earth. I wish I had his ability to make every pretty girl I meet throw themselves at me sexually and NOT REALLY CARE. lol

FF6 (FF3 US) was my favorite of all time. FF7 really wasn't translated very well... it was only really popular because of the graphics (especially in the area of Tifa's tank top). lol

New update coming in about two weeks. Changes include-
New NPC complex changes("dungeons"); NPC complexes give more goodies, but they disappear minutes after completion, meaning miners can't exploit drifting asteroids and PvP players can't cloak for hours in wait for some hapless carebear to stumble through.
New faction class modules and upgrades Player owned space stations now have universal fuel blocks Racial station fuel modifiers removed, +25% fuel storage added New class 3 battlecruisers introduced Cosmetic upgrades
Free implant for anyone who can sign in and claim it on November 29th.

I tried EVE once, but I never really got into it. That said I didn't give it much of a chance

Unfortunately, it takes quite a bit to really get into things. A lot of players spend their first week or two running NPC mission and such because of the costs involved with PvP, and they get burned out, because running missions by yourself is damn boring.
That, and there isn't much information available in-game about what-does-what. Some skills, weapons, and ships look awesome, and some uninformed players(myself included here) will spend weeks to acquire them only to find out they suck. Your best friend in the game is probably google, haha.
Some observations on the races for anyone who might want to check out a trial-
Some observations of mine on the racial ships, by no means correct. I haven't flown the tech-2's so I'm going by what I've seen and heard from others.
Ships are classified by their roles and tech classes. Tech classes are 1, 2,and 3, with 1 being general ships, 2 being more specialized(and expensive) ships, and 3 being modular ships that an be modified depending on the mission needs(usually costing over a billion apiece once fully fitted). There are also special pirate faction ships that are generally awesome, but very expensive. There are also specialized industrial ships for more menial but essential tasks.
For price comparisons, a one-month subscription is worth roughly 400 million in game currency. The Titans can run from about 2 - 5 billion each, depending on what modules are equipped.
Most of the game's economy is entirely player driven, starting from raw ore collected in asteroid belts and planetary mines, and ending finally in a class-2 warship.
Not all ships are included here, mind you. -----Amarr
Armor tanks, class 1 frigates suck save for maybe the Punisher class(better when equipped with Minmatar Autocannons), assault frigates are pretty bad for PvP, interceptor frigates rock, navy frigate is a zippy sniper.
Destroyer sucks, no mid-slots for support/electronic warfare modules, but does so-so when included in a fleet for fire support. Interdictor destroyer is pretty good for what it does.
Cruisers are hit and miss. Omen is a good gunboat with pitiful defense, Maller is a frikken lead brick that can pack enough armor to equal a battlecruiser at least(but bad damage stats), support cruiser sucks, Arbitrator is arguably the best class-1 cruiser in the game, with good electronic warfare potential and a battlecruiser-sized dronebay. Class-2 Zealot is an excellent laser ship, often flown in big fleets with logistic support.
Battlecruisers are okay, Prophecy, aka the golden turkey, can pack huge amounts of armor and not much else, but the Harbinger will melt your opponent's face off before he can even realize you've locked on to him and still survive a hailstorm of bullets. Command ships are so-so(never flown them, don't know anyone who has personally).
Capital ships are where Amarr really shines. The battleships are great all around: Armageddon is decent, Apocalypse is a great long range fire support ship, and the Abbadon is a gilded angel of death. The dreadnought class ship is great, the carriers are great, titan is great.
-----Minmatar
Melt-your-face damage dealers. Frigates are fast and pack guns, with the Rifter class being arguably the best class-1 frigate in the game, able to pack a very good offence with good speed and good electronic systems. Go Rifter! Assault frigates are good, especially the Wolf from what I've seen. Interceptors are average. Bomber is good.
Thrasher is the best PvP destroyer in the game hands down, outgunning even mot of the cruisers and costs less than a million.
Cruisers are pretty good save for the Scythe(frigate stats but 5x the price). Bellicose can be used to kill frigates and provide electronic support for missile ships, Stabber is is fast, cheap, and mounts a good offense, and the Rupture combines good armor stats with excellent damage output. The class-2 Munin can waste most other cruisers in a snap.
Battlecruisers are great. The Hurricane can be found in almost every fleet and is very flexible. The other battlecruiser is probably better left as a SURPRISE!command ship, because most people tend to giggle at it. Ugly as sin too.
Battleships are okay, make really good Artillery ships for alpha-striking someone.
Capitals are less popular. Probably some of the coolest looking ships in the game, but often passed over for others.
-----Gallente
Drones and blaster cannons. Frigates are "meh" all around, with the electronic warfare frigate being nearly useless. The assault frigates aren't too bad though.
The Catalyst destroyer is the best industrial salvage ship in the game until you can train for a specialized ship(Noctis class).
Cruisers are either drone ships or close-range knifefighters. Armor repair ship is rarely used, electronic warfare ship has an extremely narrow role, but the Vexor makes a great mini-carrier and the Thorax can tear you apart if it can manage to get close enough. CLass-2 Arazu often pops up as an advanced scout for larger fleets in player-owned systems.
Battlecruisers are both pretty good. Brutix packs close-range blaster cannons and can do some serious damage, but has relatively little in the way of defense. Myrmidon is a great drone carrier that can do decent damage, and can mount an awesome amount of shield or armor defense(generally used more for PvE, because the other battlecruisers can still do more damage though).
Battleships are pretty good. Dominix(The Mighty Green Potato) can carry dozens of drones and pack a huge defense, Megathron is an excellent close-range damage dealer, Hyperion is essentially a souped-up megathron with an extra 50 million added to the price tag.
Capitals are okay from what I've seen. Carriers are excellent, Dreadnought is useful in fleet fights, but I've never seen the titan used before, doesn't seem to be popular.
-----Caldari
Missiles, missiles, and more missiles. Frigates are average, Kestrel class is arguably one of the best starter frigates for PvE. The Merlin does decent damage bit is waaaay too slow for my liking. Assault ships are average, bomber is pretty popular. The scanner frigate is one of the best I've found for tracking down hidden goodies and unwary players.
Destroyer is "meh" with no armor and bad gun slots, but still better than the Amarr one. The class-2 Flycatcher is as expensive as a battlecruiser, but replaces all of the gun slots with rapidfire rocket launchers, and can eat most frigates alive.
Cruisers are good. Osprey is a good mining ship and in a pinch can make a cheap shield logistics ship. Caracal is a decent missile ship, Blackbird is a WONDERFUL electronic warfare ship but as soon as its sighted its made the primary target by enemy fleets. The class-2 electronic warfare ships are awesome. Moa is fugly and rather unpopular. Class-3 Tengu is arguably the best PvE ship in the game, but damn expensive and takes almost a year to train skills for.
Batlecruisers are good. Ferox is pretty rare, but makes a good knifefighter and a pretty decent command ship. Drake is the most popular ship in the game, with HUGE shield stats and a full compliment of heavy missile launchers. Good for shield-based fleets and all levels of PvE missions. Attracts some ire from petty Minmatar flyers because of its stats and ease of use.
Battleships are great in fleets. Rokh can serve as a heavy sniper or close range knifefighter, Scorpion is a huge electronic warfare platform, and the Raven is a great PvE ship.
Capitals are pretty popular, good carriers, "meh" dreadnought, Titan is rarely seen.
