Any F1 fans here?
Every racing sunday I'm glued to the tv, no matter where the race is held (how early in the morning or late in the evening). This season could be exciting, we have 4 former champions (Schumacher among them), 3 or 4 teams that will fight for constructor title, and bunch of new teams and drivers.
Who is your favourite?

F1 races aren't shown on regular tv or even basic cable tv around here... just NASCAR. And I don't enjoy seeing cars turn left all day so I don't watch NASCAR. Needless to say, I don't really know much about F1...

F1 management tried on number of occasions to sell the sport to the US fans, but somehow it allways ends in disaster. Latest was team USF1 which failed to produce the car for the start of this season There is also history of races held at US, street circuits like Detroit, Las Vegas, Long Beach, Phoenix, and Indianapolis speedway (they used only half of the oval track). Back in 60ies and 70ies the US race was held regularly at Watkins Glen, NY - never watched. There is a rumor that for the next seson they nagotiate to have New York city street race. I think that IndyCar series is more similar to F1 than NASCAR.

I follow it, we have Mark Webber with a good car finally. Still seems to find a way not to win as often as he should tho (or his team does).

Webbo is a fighter, hats off to that. What he managed to achieve last year, with broken leg (heard that doctors actually froze his leg to heal quicker), fight for title until few races before end... It's a shame that he ruined his domestic race this year. But I have a feeling that his team - Red Bull - slightly prefers their other driver, Seb Vettel. Ah yes, crashes are exciting, but also overtaking moves at speeds up to and above 300 km/h (185mph), wheel to wheel fights in sequence of corners, funny accidents in pit stops, real racing tracks with names for remarkable corners (Eau Rouge at Spa, Degner at Suzuka, Variante Ascari at Monza)... Start of the race - someone allways make something stupid, rush for the first corner - usually place for massive pile ups. And not to forget, pit babes!

I sense many a pit crewman was fired that day. If you notice, it wasn't just the tires that came off. It looks like the whole front end failed catastrophically, including the brake assemblies. Therefore it wasn't like a tire changer forgot to tighten a lug nut or something.... the problem occurred when the car was BUILT.... or at the very least when the front brakes were changed last. Does anybody know whether his crew were trying out a new brake design?

Just watched a qualifying session, and the commentators said it was a problem with new front "Uprights", whatever that means. There gonna interview him later so if I catch it I'll let you know what they said.
Edit: didn't get the interview but
Red Bull on the front row again, Vetel Pole and Webber 2nd, Lets see if they can make another mess of it this time >.> .
Reverting to the Australian GP, weber was Livid at the end, he was spose to be coming in on the same lap as the winner did to get off the wets, as with vetel, but the team leaders made a mess of it and left them out too long. I think that lead to the drivers frustrations and ended up losing the team a lot of points. Them's the breaks of Melbourne weather I guess.

As our comentators explained, "uprights" are shoulder bearings for the entire front axle. Another comic thing is that the tyres are attached by safety rope to the uprights, to prevent them from flying around in case of accident. Now they need to attach uprights to something else Weather forecast for tommorow's race is strong possibility of heavy showers, so the race will be full of spinning and sliding around. Sounds interesting!
