board.ogame.org/board684-ogame-org/board685-general/717067-who-is-going-to-continue-to-play/index5.htmlFor all those people that are threatening to quit, please let’s clear our heads for a second. Personally I hate this OGame 3.0 update as much as any of you; Game Forge just stabbed a fishbone through their brains and regardless of what the players say, they are ignorant/unwilling to pull it out. But hey, let’s face the facts; that regardless of how disappointing this update is, OGame is still very much playable and I urge everyone to think twice or three times before quitting.
First of all, fleet escape which is utterly bull-crap only applies to newbies; players without much of a fleet to begin with. So unless some so-called fleeter is pathetic enough to try and crash a puny half a dozen ships for debris, then fleet escape really doesn’t affect anything because anyone above the 50K points margin will not fleet escape and are ripe to be crashed.
Resource hideouts are absolutely junk, they protect negligible amount of resources for their costs. But hey just because they are there you don’t have to build them and waste your precious building slots right? And since they are very much useless and undesirable, then not many people will build them or even if built, they don’t affect much in the sense of plunderable resources.
Honour points is something that everyone hates and is absolutely brain-numb-and-dead; they create disadvantage to both higher and lower ranked players and are not doing what they are suppose to which is protect the lower ranked. Furthermore the honour system simply punishes active players which many of them would be ‘dishonourable’. I must admit that Game Forge need to revamp this, or at least makes it such that inflicting damage on defences has no effect on honour to discourage honour farming (there is some hope in 3.0.1). Anyhow, the point I am trying to make is that: being dishonourable and getting plundered at 100% isn’t so bad; I mean if the player is able to fleet save effectively and not allow their resources to pile up then they have nothing to worry about.
Ultimately, my conclusion is that these OGame 3.0 updates together with that silly ‘net-bar junk’ are in general short-sighted and ill-conceived. But I do believe that some of the people here are over-reacting; because the game really isn’t all that different or trashed to an unplayable state. Think about all the good stuff and sensations OGame had provided you, much of them are still there, so why quit all of a sudden? |

Honestly, I'm a little hesitant to come out of V-Mode untill they make it that you can't farm honour points by IPM's.
I have nice defences on my planets, and I don't feel like losing them for someone that wants to farm me for honour.
I would be a prime target, and it would be a pain in the ass to have to build a bigger fleet just to punish some douche that decides my defences will provide nice honour points.

Elessar, I would like to argue contrary to your points. I think this game is getting rather unplayable for two main reasons. The first is that now fleetsaving is no longer enough to guaruntee your safety as people will hit you for the honour points. Secondly there's the whole idea of making un-raidable res, res has one function (to be spent) and gaining res in whatever way is the main point of the game as the whole game revolves around res, if people are unable to raid a planet they hit then there's no point hitting a planet, and if there's no point hitting the planet then for fleeters such as myself there's no point playing. Both of these make me think it's time to give up on ogame

Lol Fleet saving will save your fleet and your res, yes people do it for the honor points but its not like it really helps... it will wear off in a couple weeks and no one will care anymore.... as for the "un-raidable res" have you looked at the stat on the un raidable bunkers? a level 10 metal storage only saves like 12000 metal from being raided... 12000 metal?! I make that 2 hours... plust a level 10 metal storage would cost close to 8million metal inclusive AND take up 10 planet slots... If you build any of the unraidable storage bunkers your a moron AND an idiot....

Well Hunter rest assured I have no intentions on wasting res on the bunkers and plus I fully understand what you're saying but if someone IPMs the **** out of one of your planets just for the honour points it will really get you aggrevated and gives people the excuse to launch on other people purely for that reason. I know the more experienced players will play the game the way it's always been played and not give a crap about the honour points but some really irritating noobish players will. As for the bunkers I see where you're coming from but my concern is that in the next so called 'upgrade' for ogame they will expand on the idea.
It's just a reason why some players may quit, I myself only threatened quitting as I was frustrated at the time and tbh a player with my points quitting would hardley be something to cry over, but I'm trying to point out that it is at least understandable and inevitable that some players are going to be victims of this new system and decide to quit. Anyways rant over lol

May I point out, that whether it is because this is festive season or people are simply upset and playing less, personally, over the past week I have made more profit from plundering and crashing people than I have ever done in any other weeks of playing. As an active raider/fleeter/whatever, players like me should be disadvantaged the most by OGame 3.0; yet unless I’m stupid enough to get myself fleet crashed again and plundered at 100% then this game have not changed very much. I am still rebuilding my fleet from the loss 2 months earlier, and my defences (which is utterly insignificant when compared to most other players of my level) is the only thing to prevent myself from getting my overnight ship/resource productions trashed. Yet despite being a bandit, like many others I haven't got bashed in the manner of honour farming; it appears that most players don't give a crap about honour and those who does will soon grow bored about it. Furthermore in case some of you people aren't aware, Game Forge (even after blowing up their own brains) is introducing patch 3.0.1 to remove honour points gained from IPMs and possibly even defence bashing. I mean this honour thing is nuts, but at least it is not unbearable. As for the resource-hide-outs, if you have played this game long enough then you will understand that fields or building slots are extremely valuable; thus no one in their right mind will waste it on those useless hide-outs/bunkers. And as Hunter has pointed out, they hold almost zero resources for what they are worth. Tarsus, if you are indeed raiding/plundering then I urge you to find targets that could be plundered for at least 100k resources; anything with less than that is not worth your time. To sum up, recent changes to the game is inconvenient and useless for us players, but the game and much of how it should be played is still the same.

Oi, Tarsus, actually, complaining is good; it highlights whatever problems we may be having and allow people to figure out what ought to be done about it. p.s. it would be wonderful to get more players like yourself to participate in the forums. OGame 3.0 has introduced a number of problems such as: hourly lags, loading delays, expedition bugs and some other nuisance that may not get fixed for a long time. Everything else (honour and fleet escape in particular) are just crap which we have to swallow; but they won’t poison us dead.

I hate the official forums, I try to stay out of them when possible. When I used to go on them I only used to give ship suggestions which were always rejected, I'm not actually sure anyone's ideas got accepted. :/

to all the players that are currently using the OGame Fix userstyles (which removes: GF toolbar, spinning DM, stars, ugly gray box, logo border and replaces a few images). some of you may be aware that the Header-image with resources and stuff is messed up due to faults with the image host (imageshack). i have since then replaced the header, and everything should look good again. please remove/update your current version of OGame Fix userstyles and download this latest script: userstyles.org/styles/57253/ogame-fix?r=1322744832
