New rules for universes after JupiterNot sure what to make of this. Huge boosts for lower ranked miners, while fleeters are left with less targets and less chance to really do much of anything once the universe ages well enough. Biggest highlight is the rule that if your fleet is greater than five times the size of the defender's fleet, the defender's fleet automatically fleetsaves and you are left to deal with nothing but turrets. Eck, if a defender has 100 battleships behind 1000 rocket launchers, I'm going to be sending a hell of a lot more than 500 battleships to take him out. Since defenses don't factor into anything with this rule, turtles win hands down. And since ships are now assigned different point levels based on the strength of the ship, you won't be able to make up for it by sending a full 500 destroyers. Good news about all this I suppose is that it might increase the number of players joining up in older unis at least.

to be honest, i don’t see how all these elaborate protection measures are even necessary. if played properly, a player should never be afraid of getting bashed+trashed+farmed in the first place. most raiders/fleeters have nothing against their victims and they only attack for the profit. furthermore, most higher level players will ignore extremely low ranked players because the gain is insignificant to them. finally, basic commonsense like fleetsaves, adequate defences and not allowing resources to pile-up will prevent most attacks from occuring. afterall, no one would bother with raiding an unprofitable target; considering the waste of fleetslots/time/fuel. all those players that are struggling as soon as they emerge from newbie 5k are either naturally incompetent or too ignorant to learn from their mistakes.
personally, i've managed to climb the ranks without ever getting looted or crashed. since i started, i was only attacked three times; twice by a fellow newbie when i was under protection, another time after i delivered resources to a new colony. n00b from DDC send 1000destroyers towards my homeplanet once cause my fleetsaves returned; always make sure your fleetsaves return after you are back online and if you inform your attacker politely, then most likely he or she will recall because they can use that fleetslot for a different attack. and i'm sure many competent players in Ataraxia Alliance never struggled on a day-to-day basis; players that learn to play properly will continue playing, while struggling players will quit sooner or later.
this new "Jupiter" universe will most likely attract a whole bunch of players who are meant to play Farmsville instead of OGame. in time "Jupiter" is going to become so boring that the better players from it will migrate to these older universes such as our own. with protection rules such as those above, players who sign up to "Jupiter" server will never experience the true excitement and purpose of playing OGame; they are stuck in a capsule designed especially for the handicapped.

well it's ceartainly a popular choice, I dont like it much as it's going to make for THEEEEEEEE most boring universe ever.
I think it might be a popular one, however I won't be taking part in it.

I'm not a fan of the new rules. Honor points and bonuses given to people who attack players who are of the same strength or stronger, while honor points and bonuses taken away from people who attack stockpiling noobs. It makes little sense to attack somebody stronger than you. And attacking someone just as strong as you are is a quick way to see both people's fleets destroyed.
I can't fathom what the Ogame people are thinking with this move.

I honestly don't mind some of the changes. The resource protection thing is horribly wasteful; by the time you spend millions getting it to level 10, the resources it saves are just a drop in the bucket compared to what your mines churn out. If it takes up fields(no word on that yet) that just makes it worse.
I actually like the revalued military/fleet system. It might finally do away with people getting their fleet rating partially through probes and solar sats.
As for honor points, it might work if it's done right. Several other GF games already use them. Only problem is that the other games often use them as a form of currency; isn't much to buy in OGame other than dark matter.

New updates to the rule overhaul announced.
They're thinking about tying the honor point system to the fleet escape system, eg if you have more honor points(acquired from winning battles) than your attacker, your fleet will not escape.
Also, they're thinking about putting an in-game war button for alliances now. When activated, you enter in the target alliance, war is declared and notices are automatically sent, and the bashing ban system is deactivated for those alliances. This one isn't off the drawing board yet, so details are at best vague...

Yep, they're not too popular. They've lowered the point ratio for escape from 5:1 to 10:1.
Means now that if you have 500,000 points the minimum you can hit is 50,000 points instead of 100,000
